Hi Danny! How’s it going?

All is going well!

You live in Baltimore. Tell us a few things about it, and what its like to live there.

Overall Baltimore is a small city, but filled with talent, wonders, and dangers. Baltimore is the kind of city that will tell you more about yourself! The city very easy to get around whether traffic is heavy or not.

How does living there influence your music?

Living here influenced my music by its incredibly diverse music scene. No matter what genre you take interest in, you can always find somewhere jamming it. It could be going on at the stadium downtown or someone’s grungy basement lol.

Are you from a musical family?

Yes, I have quite a few relatives that’s played many roles in music. I believe the roots start with my grandmother being a tambourine girl in my great uncle’s band. I have an uncle that is hip hop producer and a cousin that once was a recording engineer.

As a musician, who would you say are your biggest influences?

Larry Heard, Jimi Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Nas

What was your first gig/club night you attended?

The first gig/club I ever attended was a place called 5 Seasons new downtown Baltimore.

‘Sunrise Over Baltimore’ came out on 3rd November. Tell us what inspired you to make the song.

The inspiration came from Larry Heard “Can You Feel It”. I was just getting into tech-house and found the track interesting. I figured I had the tools to create something of the same lineage so I gave it a shot.

How did the track come together?

The track came together from me programming a 4 on the floor drum loop on a Roland MC303, and using a R&B chord progression that I had previously written on guitar. Added some claps and reverb decay on guitar with some strings and it was off to the races!

Is that typical of how you make music?

At that time, I did begin my works on the Roland MC303 and then add layers using other instruments. My workflow has drastically changed since then.

Do you enjoy performing live?

It’s been some time since my last performance but it has always been a pleasure.

If you could play at any venue, which one would you choose?

Madison Square Garden!

Who is your favourite DJ?

Larry Heard, DJ Screw.

What is your favourite film?

All time favourite film is Cable Guy.

What is your favourite book?

48 Laws of Power by Robert Green. (Amazon link)

What or who is your greatest love?

As cliché as it sounds music is my greatest love. It has always allowed me to express myself in multiple ways since the age of 8.

What or who is your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is to feel as if I am not making any progress.

Thanks Danny!
